WHY ARE CHRISTIANS ALWAYS TRYING TO CONVERT PEOPLE?

This is a very good question.

An analogy will help answer this question.

Dhanesh decided to gift his beloved wife with a MacBook Pro on her birthday. He did all his research and decided to go to a local store because their prices were very competitive and it was nearby. On the way, he met a person who claimed to be an employee at an Apple store located on the other part of town. When Dhanesh mentioned his intention to get a MacBook Pro, his newly acquainted friend strongly discouraged him from going to the local store. Instead, he persuaded Dhanesh to go with him to the other part of town to the Apple store. The reason for this persuasion was that this local store is known to sell counterfeit laptops and it is likely that he would get cheated. Do you think the Apple store employee was trying to add one more customer into his business or was trying to save Dhanesh from spending time, money and effort on something that will not help him or his wife?

The Bible teaches,

“…for it is appointed for man to die once and after this comes judgment.” (The Bible, Hebrews, chapter 9, verse 27).

Jesus says,

“Therefore I say to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that ‘I am He’, you will die in your sins.” (The Bible, John chapter 8, verse 24)

The Bible also declares,

“… there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” (The Bible, Acts chapter 2, verse 12)

Now see, Christians hate to see their friends, family, neighbors, colleagues, or anyone spend eternity in Hell away from the presence of God. This is because Christians are taught and commanded to love others. We, as Christians, want the best for you. We want you to know the love of God that He displayed on the cross (The Bible, Romans chapter 5, verse 8). We want you to know the forgiveness of sins, freedom, peace and salvation that only our Lord Jesus Christ can provide.

Jesus says,

“If you continue in my word… you will know the truth and the truth will make you free.” (The Bible, John chapter 8, verse 31-32).

Christians, true followers of Jesus Christ, don’t convert people to add membership to a church. They don’t gain anything by doing it. True followers of Jesus Christ love not only the people around them but also those in the remotest parts of the world that they take the Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to wherever they go. The Gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ loved all the world more than any other to take our punishment upon Himself so that we can be saved from the coming Judgment (The Bible, John chapter 3, verse 16).

It breaks God’s heart to see anybody go away from Him into Hell. It breaks a Christian’s heart also to see someone live their life without knowing Jesus Christ.
